TNS is back after a long hiatus with a new review of the Bar. B. Q. Plaza in the IOI Mall Puchong.

It is located near the nice Merry Go Round in the centre court which many children love to ride on because it has lots of ponies and carriages and etc.

But lets not talk about that , lets have a look at whats at this restaurant/bar/bbq plaza

I just love the dragon image, reminds me of Meet The Robinsons.

So as you can see, the menu offers “sets” which are plates of alot of things mixed together such as beef strips, pork strips, chicken strips and so on. All the food is served raw so it must be cooked by yourself, work to eat haha. Remember STUDENTS get a special privilege everyday! 20% off!

My family of 3 ordered the DELUXE SUPREME SET!

The picture looked good so why not. But here is what it actually looked like in real life –.-

Suddenly it doesn’t look that deluxe anymore.

So what are you supposed to do with the raw food?

There is a hot plate in the middle of the table which you use to cook the meat. But before you do so, plz observe the safety guidelines outlined but the cute little dragon.

So on the hot plate, there is a section which is a mountain that is used to cook the meat, and there is a “moat” section which is filled with hot soup to protect your meat against dragons. At the same time you can cook your fish balls and things like that.

Look how healthy is the meal ( sarcastically speaking ). I mean what is the freaking point of actually giving so much vegetables? To make my “excretory products” more stiff and healthy? I don’t think the cabbage actually helps to satisfy my hunger at that point in time. So beware, you don’t really get much for your money. Plus the fact that the meat strips aren’t all that thick and juicy. In fact I believe that 1 deluxe set was only fit for one person to eat…… Maybe the cabbage is meant to be like rice. Oh BTW , they do serve rice with their food.

They also have a special sauce that you can mix yourself. I think its for the meat. Sort of like the syabu syabu peanut sauce. Quite good.

WHATS THE CONCLUSION?????????????????

I don’t ever think i will miss the food honestly……………

Feels like something i could have cooked at home on a frying pan for 1/3 the cost, Plus the portion that they gave isn’t all that great.

I think all together, we ate more than RM50 for 3 of us , and I still was a hungry monster after.

Hokkien MEE

The best mee in town. Definately Hokkien Mee!

My parents found this place whereby it is the best we have tasted so far. This chef (called Ah Wa) used to train under a very super duper chef somewhere in KL. It seems that in Malaysia there is a shortage of good hokkien mee chefs these days, but just so happens we just found a sifu!

Hokkien mee is basically noodles cooked with soy sauce, some pork, some prawns and ate with sambal if you like.

It seems the restaurant is that famous until it is listed on google maps!

Its about RM 10 per portion. Quite expensive by comparison but its worth it! And fyi, if you order a RM10 plate X2 it is much better than ordering a Rm20 because they cook very much less. Not very fair…..

TASTE IS GOOOOOOOOOOOOD , price is okay….because the portion is rather small for the price, plus when you order a bigger portion they cook even less =.=

REMEMBER! Ask AH WA to cook! It really tastes better! Hor CIAK!

Taiwan Beef Noodle!

Soup, or dry(below).

Love the noodles and the beef so very much! HO CHAK! RM 7.90 for the dry beef noodle and RM 8.90 for the soup one.

Smelly Tofu! Damn smelly but at the same time damn awesome! Best taken with the sauce provided! RM 4.90 for that!

Steamed dumpling! Steamed to perfection and goes well with the vinegar sauce! RM 5.90 for this.

Love this very very much! Fried oyster mushroom! Love it very much! RM 4.90 for it!

BUBBA GUMP SHRIMP

This time TNS is taking you to an American restaurant called Bubba Gump Shrimp.

The one i went to is actually at the entrance to the Sunway Pyramid Lionhead. The drop off point for must people. You can’t miss it.

This restaurant is actually from the show “Forest Gump” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forrest_Gump. Its a really good movie.

Anyhow you would be wondering how it became a restaurant? Well you see, in the movie, the main character Forest GUMP , enlists himself in the Army, he meets a african dude called Bubba, who comes from a long line of chefs. They can make shrimp into thousands of dishes as shown in the movie and therefore ta-daaaaaa, you have the bubba gump restaurant!

Well as i said in the movie, they talked alot about shrimp, hence alot of the menu is shrimp but they still do have other seafood choices and some meat dishes like chicken burgers. You can click on the picture below to see the menu better.

Now this is something i liked alot. Its the Onion Ring Tower It really lives up to its name because as you can see, it is bigger than the heinz ketchup bottle in the backgroud. It comes with a special type of thousand island dip that tastes phenomenal!

Oh btw, notice the sign at the back that says “RUN FORREST RUN”. Actually if you flip it, it says “STOP FORREST STOP”. Which means that you want to call a waiter. It works but sorta inconvenient too.

Now here is the GARLIC BREAD. Well tastes like ordinary garlic bread. Comes on a news paper too. I tried reading the news paper, there is actual news from the movie on it.

This was my Fish and Chips. I liked it because of the HUGE portion of fries and coselaw, but the fish fillets are a miserable sight. I was hoping for those usual one big piece because i hate when my fish is cut into small portions. Makes it seem as though i get so little fish. I was full because of the fries not the fish. But anyhow the fish and the tartar sauce was very good.

This was the 4 shrimp combo (or something like that….) Ever ran out of ideas how to make variations of a certain dish? Well this gives you, tempura prawns, fried prawns, cold prawns and 1 more but i can’t remember what it was XD . Each pocket is like 4 shrimps inside? Enough for only one person like me or better to share instead ;) .

Part (1): Kuala Lumpur-Jakarta

Something like a menu onboard. :) Let me remind you, Air Asia is a low cost, no frills airline.

This mean that meals are not included in your air ticket! Therefore, you may choose to purchase your meal, or not to.

They do provide a pre-booking service for you to choose your preferred meal online when you book your flight. This not only mean lower price but also more variety! So why not pre-book your meals?

That was exactly what I did.

This was what I pre-booked when I booked my flight to Jakarta at:

Airasia.com (The place where all low fares can be found)

I love spaghetti, therefore I opted for a change from what I usually order, Pak Nasser’s Nasi Lemak.

This is the set offered online. Meal + coffee/tea for only RM 12. :) I went for tea.

The only does not mean it is cheap but compared to purchasing it onboard, it is slightly cheaper!

*This is extra since I have not went on board Air Asia for 1 year plus already and I miss their red hot stewardess!

Part (2) Jakarta-Kuala Lumpur

The menu on the returning sector. If you have a keen eye, you will have noticed the difference between the menu of the onward journey and the returning one.

Yes, you’re right! The top right of the menu stated two different flags!

This is because my journey to Jakarta was on Air Asia while the returning journey was on Indonesia Air Asia.

Certain meals which are available in the Malaysian menu will not be seen in the Indonesian menu and vice versa.

I pro-booked an Indonesian meal since I was onboard AirAsia Indonesia.

As you can see. Nasi Kuning Manado (Manado’s yellow rice)

Prebooked meals are cheaper and you can choose whether to go with tea or coffee!

So what lies inside ? :)

This is a popular dish from Sulawesi served with smoke Cakalang(skip-jack tuna), telur balado, fried sweet potato, potato soya with beef and chilli sambal.

The meal served was hot but the ingredients were horrid! except the egg and rice!

I forced myself to eat everything! The meat was hard and not tender, it definitely gave me teeth a hard time!

The sambal was not too spicy and just mild spicy. I will not recommend this to anyone! After a few spoon of the nasi kuning, I regretted for not choosing Pak Nasser’s Nasi Lemak instead. T.T

4 Nuggets overall for this as it is still edible.

It is reasonable since I chose to book my meal online which cost me only RM12 for both meal and drink.

I totally love western food and i think i have found just the best local restaurant that serves pretty good western and eastern food. It is called StarVillage Steakhouse and the original branch is in OUG but now they have a branch in Puchong. Jalan Kenari.

So after you ordered your food, guess what, you get TOYS to play with hahaha makes you feel like a kid again. Its those kind of IQ kinda toys

So now on to the FOOD. First on the list is my favourite old

mushroom soup

Well i guess this is quite good in comparisonto other local western food restaurants but nothing compared to TGI Fridays or LEX cafe!

But still thumbs up!

Next!

Escargot! I think it was cooked with garlic sauce. These are rather good quality snails and the flavour is also quite good. Comes with a bun too. If you dont know what escargots are, they are basically a type of snail that people breed and sell and cook. Besides the fact it looks horrible, it tastes good :D

This is HONEY LAMB. My mum ordered it, i only took a small bite. This is their signature dishes , rather sweet because of the honey but if you like sweet things this is perfect for you!

This was another one that my dad ordered, it was the

T-Bone Steak. Now this wasn’t that good on that day for some reason cause it was rather fat. It shouldn’t be but it happened. So the manager was apologetic for it.

Now onto my own dish, this is a MIXED GRILL. What does it have? It has mushroom sauce chicken , brown sauce lamb and black pepper beef ( you can change the beef to chicken if you want ). This is also their signature dish. I ordered it medium, so the meat was quite tender when i ate it. The sauces tasted good, salad was rather interesting as there are cherries and assorted veges. THUMBS UP!

And here is the fancy drinks, i had the banana milkshake (left) and my parents had the coconut ice blended. Milkshake was creamy and banana-ey . Loved it!

So this is the bill. if you notice, behind the bill you have a coupon. You can redeem it for certain things when you collect just enough of it. So if you order more , resit gets longer, and more of these shall you collect :D

In conclusion, the food is really nice for a locally run western food shop. Pricing to portion is also not too bad. Usually a steak would be like 40 bucks but here it is just RM18. Plus if you wanna stop by for lunch, they have a promotion. For RM8.90 you can get a main course such ( local asian food ) and a drink (Ice lemon tea etc) and an ice cream! :D

FRIED KUEY TEOW!

Look! It is located at the food heaven in Puchong :Bandar Puteri!

The variety provided for everyone’s taste!

Besides fried kuey teow and fried rice, side dishes like popiah, Lam Mee and Prawn Mee are also famous here!

But as the restaurant’s name stated:

You will regret if you don’t try their Kuey Teow Goreng upon your visit.

Tada! The pictures may not show how awesome this plate of fried mee+kuey teow is. Thus, you better pay this restaurant a visit!

The best I’ve tried so far. RM 6.50 for this large plate. Not cheap!

What i ordered above is a Double Portabello Mushroom Swiss burger.

Emirates: In-flight meal

Part (1) : Kuala Lumpur-Dubai

This is the very first time TNS is bringing to you an in-flight food review.

To those who are new to it: The in-flight food is actually catered by airlines for their passengers during a flight service.

Food provided by different airlines may vary.

The very first in-flight meal review is onboard a Emirates flight service from Kuala Lumpur to Dubai.

Lets see what is on the menu:

A choice between chicken or fish.

Appetiser: Tri coloured pasta with surimi

Info: Surimi = Crab stick in Japanese.

A great choice using spirali as the pasta, adding some colours to the salad. The dressing was lacking in the sense that it was a bit dry but otherwise edible.

Main course: I first chose the fish but later found myself still hungry so I took the chicken too! :)

1)Grilled sea perch with red pepper sauce.

The noodles/pasta was sticky at first but otherwise when mixed with the sauce. The taste is great and the fish is quite tender. The green beans were perfectly cooked too!

2) Traditional chicken korma.

The rice is warm, the chicken is tender, the mixed vegetables is varied. Thumbs up! Simple yet tasty~

Desert: Blackberry crumble

A very nice not too sweet desert to end the meal.

Overall the food service was great and the meal served was great too!

You cant ask for more at about 30000ft. above sea level. :P

Nuggets rating overall :

7 Nuggets! There is still room for improvement!

Ohh ya, no price review because the food is complementary which is included with your purchase of the air ticket.

However, if you ever come across the same menu on any Emirates flight, I suggest the chicken more than the fish. :)

Part (2) : Dubai-London

Menu of the flight.

Supper: Chicken Tikka Sandwich

Nice tender chicken strips with some creamy coleslaw! The muffin is just normal.

Breakfast: A choice between mushroom omelette or breakfast grill

:) I love BBQ/grilled stuff, therefore I chose breakfast grill!

Fruit: Fresh seasonal fruit.

Awesome mixed breakfast grill.

The chicken is tender, the turkey rashers is perfectly grilled, sausage is tasty, fried potato cubes are well fried, and the baked beans made this awesome breakfast complete! Thumbs up!

Croissant: Very very nice together with the solid butter cube! :)

Part (3) : London-Dubai

Well, this flight is quite special, it is onboard the world’s largest commercial airplane, the A380!

Appetiser:

Prawn Cocktail:

Prawns served with a generous slice of smoked salmon with some thousand island sauce and curly endive. :) The salmon slices and prawns were very fresh. A great appetiser indeed!

Main Course:

Chicken or Lamb?!

1) Lamb curry

Lamb Curry/ Nasi Beriyani!

Creamy lamb curry with spinach and rice with raisins/nasi beriyani! Along with some red pepper! This is the tastiest lamb curry I’ve ever eaten! The lamb is superbly cooked, super tender and the curry blended well with the rice!

2 Thumbs up! AWESOME! Even better than those sold on the ground!

2) Roasted Chicken Breast Fillet

Sorry about the picture, it was taken when it was already half eaten.XD

The chicken is tender, but the sauce is kind of weird, and the mashed potatoes is just normal. The sautéed vegetables is quite tasty though.

Dessert:

Chocolate and praline delice

Rich chocolate topped with dark chocolate brownie pieces and encased in a hazelnut mousse! Very very sweet and nice! :) Great choice for dessert!

Before Landing:

Coffee with these chocolate topped cake/short bread!

What a nice way to end the journey!

The meals offered are very different with salmon and lamb curry, very very nice meal served! Totally deserved the 8 Nuggets scale.

I recommend the lamb instead of the chicken, you may not find those kind of lamb curry on the ground!

Part (4) : Dubai-Kuala Lumpur

Final leg of the journey. :(

Hmm, so what for lunch?

Appetiser:

Vegetable nicoise

Mixed vegetables tossed in olive oil and served with lemon. Very weird taste. Dislike it.

Main Course:

1) Breaded white fish fillet

Creamy red pepper sauce with dill flavoured mashed potatoes and some dry seasonal vegetables. The fish was a bit tough otherwise edible.

2) Orange hot bean chicken

Soy flavoured chicken thigh was nicely done together with orange flavoured hot bean sauce served with stir-fried pancit noodles. The taste of the sauce is weird, maybe its because of the orange flavour.

Dessert:

The tiramisu with chocolate sauce is the only thing I find nice on this meal service of the flight! Sweet and delicious! :)

Nuggets rating:

6 Nuggets for this sector. It was not what I expected.

This is the only flight I cant recommend which one to choose between the 2 main courses. Both taste plain/weird.

Overall, Emirates offer a very wide range of food and drinks, not once on my 4 sector of flight a choice of meal was repeated.

My uncle from Singapore decided to take my family out to eat at Pavillion KL. As usual stuff there ain’t cheap but its really good stuff if you got the money. My uncle took us to the Kampachi Japanese Restaurant by Equitorial Hotel.

So now onto the food!

Looks mouth watery isn’t it? haha

Honestly, i really really loved the restaurant cause the food is really really segar. In one of the pictures there is a tray of fish, the lady came up to my table and asked us to choose which one we wanted for our sashimi. The fish just flew in that morning itself so the meat was very very fresh.

Theres also this special sauce that is supposed to go with that fish that we choose.

I think they call it “po doi” or something like that. Its my first time trying it . Syiok!

The soup that you see in the 2nd last photo is a special type of miso soup. They boil it with some expensive fish. It tastes sweet and has a very strong taste. Gila SYIOK!

The fish that i can’t remember the name to was very well cooked. It is really pricey btw. Half the fish costs RM160 WAHLIAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO . So the whole fish, which wasn’t very huge, was RM320. The meat is very tasty but you must be careful not to eat the belly portion cause it tastes bitter, which i kena’ed on the first bite XD.

Then lastly, there is the tempura which I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEE <3 <3 <3.

The coating is crispy and fragrant. Very enjoyable biting into the soft shell crab and prawn. Plus the prawn is quite huge…… so it’s not a rip off.

So overall, we give:

Well done chefs!

It is a burnt note because the whole meal for 4 of us cost RM749 !!!!!!! However you do get what you paid for which is good food and quality service.

K-lunch

The title of this review should be familiar to those who recently or used to party at Redbox before.

It is one of their promo for karaoke from 11pm to 3pm daily.

Of course, lunch and a drink is included from RM10.99. The price range is between RM10.99 to 19.99 depending on your food selection.

During my visit, I went for the cheapest set on the list due to tight budget which gave me 2 options:

Either:

1) Salad

2) Fried rice

Knowing it was lunch time, I opted for the fried rice, with a glass of lychee drink to accompany during this 4 hours of karaoke-ing.

Let me remind you,

The K-lunch includes:

1) Your choice of meal

2) Your choice of drink

3) 4 hours of non-stop karaoke with or without your mates.

4) A private room for you or with your friends for 4 hours.

And this is the fried rice I chose:

RM 10.99 for this. Together with the drink and the 4 hours of karaoke.

Lychee drink cause it is rather refreshing!

Overall the fried rice was not really oily and the portion was very big! Nothing much about it as it was rather simple, just rice fried with egg and some beans with some crispy crackers as toppings. Thumbs up for the portion. ^^ Quite tasty too! Not over tasty!

Restoran Suang Le River

TheNuggetScale is on the road again, this time to the country side not far for people in Selangor. It is located at Bagan Pasir , on the way to Tanjung Karang. It is a small fishing village and when i mean village, it really is, wooden houses on stilts, fishermen playing mahjong , the river in sight.

So here we are on our search to find good food in remote places!

One thing you notice when you step into this simple house cum restaurant is that there are tanks of water filled with live fish for you to choose ( not to make your pets lahhhhhh ) for you to enjoy at your table. HAHA

Guarenteed fresh. I saw the uncle scoop up an old and dying crab and tossing him out the window XD.

The food was quite good. I think the dishes that i liked alot were the Pak Chou fish which was hugeeeeeeeeee and the crabs too. The Pak Chou was 2kgs! It seems the fella didn’t understand when we said we only want HALF the fish. Instead he cut it into half =.= . Luckily there was 6 men at the table , boleh sapu everything and one of them was rather big XD .

The crab from the photo you can see its quite fresh. The shell is just so cute, got white spots on it (no it isn’t sick) . I think the way they cooked this dish was rather simple, pretty much just steaming with minimal additives. However the meat was naturally “tim” (in cantonese) , sweet. That shows how freshness really makes a difference.

The others were just okayyyyy….. The Kung Po lai liu har wasn’t that good cause the skin was not crunchy enough. Bo Song mannnnnn.

I think this place is cool because the food is fresh but maybe the chef better work on his kung fu if he mau orang mari.

So overall , the whole meal costs us RM200+ for 9 of us(the 2kg fish was about 100 ringgit) Bolehla, eat this meal in KL will burn your wallet.

6 nuggets because i think the food was moderately good but the food was fresh. Maybe it is a good place to drop by when you’re around! There’s a nearby pasar ikan for all your seafood needs, and i mean all , got shark, stingray etc.

During my last visit there, I tried 2 of their roasted dishes.

1) The Roasted Chicken ( 烧鸡）

Price per person. RM４．

The meat is so so tender. I usually hate to eat so much chicken but the chicken here made me wanted more. :) Definitely a must try dish!

2) The Roasted Pork (烧肉）

Price per person. RM ５.

Not much fat and the meat is so soft. Roasted to perfection!

You can feel the crisp when you chew it! :) Simply delicious~

To make the meal a balanced one, a plate of vegetable is vital.

I called the stir fried lettuce ( 油麦）

Nothing special about this vegetable, just like those normal ones you can find elsewhere.

It is just to balance up your meal!

Of course you need to eat the above dishes with this 2 important items to make your whole lunch/dinner perfect.

With this two and those perfectly roasted dishes. Your meal is now perfect!

Holidays are here and TheNuggetScale has also sorta been taking a break over the weekends but now we are back and running. Today we are about to take you to a place that might be unfamiliar to most people living in the Selangor and KL area.

People say that we should not underestimate quiet and small towns cause what actual good can come out of them ? Well , we are taking you today to Raub, Pahang to the most famous Chinese restaurant there that is famous for hosting weddings and special events.

Here we go!

1. Stir-fried Sawi

As usual in a Chinese dinner, vegetables are the first dishes that come out.

Children usually do not like vegetables. However, for some reason, the children at my table totally loved this dish!

I would say that eventhough it is just vegetables, it was quite well cooked.

2. Bentong Famous Taufu

Bentong has a famous taufu factory that produces superior taufu. I got a chance to taste it in action at this place.

This is taufu fried with some vegetables. The taufu has a very nice bite to it and has a very good taste. Lives up to its famous name.

3. “Kau Yuk” Stewed belly pork with yam

It just keeps getting better. My favourite dish finally arrived at my table! It is belly pork that is stewed together with yam. The meat that they served here, looking at the pictures, you can see is not too fat, not too lean. Just nice! Lots of flavour as well.

The yam is soft and flaky. Very well cooked. It does not break into pieces when i poked it with my fork neither is it as hard as stone.

4. Stir Fried Brinjal with dried prawns

I never liked brinjals in my entire life. But this dish really tickled my tastebuds. The brinjal is not too soft nor too hard. Very flavourful and succulent.

5. Watercress Soup

It is made up of watercress vegetables plus also pork meat!

It has a very herbivorous taste. Even the pork tastes like vegetables.

It has a good strong flavour.

6. Steam Patin Fish.

Patin fish is a very expensive fish and said to be quite abundant in Pahang.

I really enjoyed eating the fish cause the meat is really smooth and succulent. Very good flavour as well. Not many bones too!

7. Steam Kampung Chicken with Wolfberries “Kei Zi”

This dish is steam chicken with soy sauce and Kei Zi.

The chicken that they used here is free range “Kampung Chicken”. Therefore, the meat has less fat and a nicer taste to it.

Cooked to perfection.

Its really true when they say that small doesn't always mean bad. This whole meal would have cost around RM200-300 in KL especially due to the Patin fish.

Fast food is something that is so happening in today’s time especially to youngsters when we lepak with our friends. Its much much easier to visit a fast food place than a normal sit-down-and-eat-restaurant (i don’t mean fast food makes you stand, you get the point XD )

Nuggetscale presents you with a good place to lepak if you happen to be in IOI Mall. It is called Wendy’s. Its pretty much like Macdonalds if you ask me. Easily recognisable as the mascot is a girl with red hair.

I ate a “1/2 Pounder Double With Cheese” (Sounds really long and yummy)

Now here is what you need to understand, the large in wendy’s is SUPER Large in comparison to Macdonald’s so don’t bother taking that unless you are prepared to have a huge cup of coke and a big pack of fries.

I took the medium set which cost me around RM16

So this is the french fries which taste OKAY but it is nothing in comparison to Macdonald’s which has been awarded “The Best Fries of the Year” award annually.

On to the main thing: The 1/2 Pounder Double with Cheese

Just check out how greesy that bugger (opppps i mean burger) is. It has 2 patties and it is bigger than the patties at MacDs

Plus you get some veges and other stuff under that delightful sesame bun

Notice also that the patty is squared. Kononnya because their slogan is “Because we don’t cut corners”.

This is just to show you how big the burger is. Sorta like the GCB size but alittle bit taller.

On to the taste, I totally love the burger cause when you bite into it you can really taste the beef patty. It is like the main event. The mixture of sauces also go quite well with it.

Totally something that you have to try at IOI mall or Sunway Pyramid.

I can’t really recommend anything else that is nice there cause nothing else there is fabulous. Beef pounders are their main business

Overall:

Kinda expensive honestly…..i mean RM16 for a burger? But well if you consider the goodness of it I guess its a reasonable price to pay.

Rawr! The second 9 nuggets review had arrived. I wanted to give 10 Nuggets because it is the best! And I really mean the BEST! Best pasta I’ve ever ate!

But then, I thought that nothing is perfect. So, 9 nuggets will be fine.

Oh ya, before carrying on to the review, there is 2 things you guys must add in to what you order if you dine here! Except the drinks. :P

GCB ( ??? Chicken Burger )

Macdonalds has been doing a fabulous job making the GCB burger the hippest thing you can eat right now. Posters of this famous burger now spread across the city, newspapers and tv. They even have a contest for you guys to give suggestions what could G mean and you stand a chance to win tons of prizes!

So now the nuggetscale is on a fact finding mission to find if it should be named “Goodest Chicken burger” or……… “ Ghastly Chicken Burger”

A large set of GCB will cost around RM13 and there also is a DOUBLE GCB which would cost around RM17 for a large set as well. Kinda expensive to pay for a burger if you ask me as it is just “Grilled whole chicken thigh, Gorgeous iceberg lettuce and Glorious Char grilled sauce”

That is the size of a GCB burger in comparison with a Mcd ketchup packet.

This is the grilled chicken whole thigh.

The taste is sort of like the McChicken burger just with a grilled chicken thigh. Quite tasty but it feels as though Mcd’s needed to find a new way to make some money and came up with the brilliant idea of creating a new chicken burger by just swapping the patty and doing heavy advertising that will brainwash people to try it.

If i were to enter the contest, i would just call it “Good Chicken burger” cause it tastes GOOD but not extraordinary as what the commercials are telling us.

Wonder if this is healthy because it is grilled and has veges? Can’t seem to find any nutritional information anywhere.

House Of fish ball

After RE:LAX-ing at RE:LAX, you may proceed to this restaurant, which is a stone’s throw away from the Empire Shopping Gallery!

The Tang House Of Fish Ball.

Yes. Almost everything or I can say everything sold here has fish in it.

So, what’s famous here?!

Famous = Must try if you visit.

1) Homemade Fish Ball Noodles.

Simple and tasty. :) RM 5 for this.

It is very obvious this noodles are made up of 3 main ingredients:

a) The special homemade noodles.

b) “Zu Yok Sui” (In Cantonese) :) Shredded pork

c) Fish balls (BALLS?! :P)

Even though it is a dry noodle, they did not use the black soy sauce in the noodles. However, they used some other white sauce which I thought was more healthy and tasty.

Conclusion: The noodles were non-sticky, the shredded pork blended perfectly with the noodles and the fish balls are the bomb. :)

Ooops..I almost forgot. The noodles will not be perfect without the special chilli sauce below. :P

Overall, this restaurant has a large variety of types of noodles (eg: Curry noodles, Hor Fun, etc) which you may choose according to your taste buds. But, 1 thing is for sure, they all contain fish balls/cakes/meats.

It has been a very hectic week for me, and for some of you guys im sure! So now its time to RE:LEX during the weekend!

What am i talking about??? There’s a new shopping mall opened in Subang Jaya, just behind the Subang Parade mall, which is called the Empire Shopping Gallery. Its a more high class mall compared to IOI mall or Subang Parade. Lots of upmarket shops there and also a good place to lepak!

In this mall, there is a brand new IT centre called LEX ( Lifestyle Electronics eXperiencial centre). Can you really find good food amongst a bunch of plastic and metal objects? Well you can!

The cafe in the store is called RE:LEX. Suitable name right?

The cafe just takes up a small portion of the area. It serves western and local food as well. There is plenty of room to kick back and relax in this gadget jungle. The owner of a cafe is a friend of mine who has went to Europe to study culinary arts so I expect the western food to be the BOMB.

Just a foot note, I will not be biased in the review and will be 100% objective in reviewing this place. Ill also be abit long winded in this review today cause there is just so much to say :D.

Firstly, lets take a look around, the ambience. There is a huge huge amount of room to roam about and mess around. There are 3 little rooms where you can just place console games for free! Also there is an empty space above that is suitable for group discussions and cell group meetings! Surround you is a beautiful scenery through the huge glass windows, and also a Mac, HP , Nokia and computer store!

Moment of truth , the food!

1. Lamb Chops with Fries for RM16.90.

Honestly, its abit pricey but the portion you get is huge! Worth your while. 3 pieces of lamb :D

The lamb is cooked well, not tough, falls off the bone well, and it is served with mint sauce!

Fries today was abit salty but I think it might just be the chef’s mood today? Anyhow the fries are really really good, sorta like TGI Fridays kinda fries.

2. Roast Chicken @ RM13.90

You get half a chicken for RM13.90 , reasonable .

The chicken is cooked with rosemary and other herbs, the meat is tender, the herb taste is well done.

Served with a side of mash potato dressed in a mushroom type of sauce

3. Mushroom soup @ RM4.90

I <3 MUSHROOM SOUP. PERIOD.

This soup is totally awesome! It ain’t like the pizza hut or campbells soup where it is powdered form and they just add water. It is boiled from scratch and it taste totally better. It has a rich and creamy texture. Not too dilute or too thick, just nice. If you have tasted TGI Friday’s mushroom soup, this is better!

4. Hainanese Chicken Rice Balls @ RM8.90

This is what everyone goes to Melaka for. Why go so far when you can get it right here at LEX. The chicken is good and tender. The rice is oily rice rolled into a ball just the way Melaka people like it :D

Time for the desserts. Now I was told that the desserts are made by mothers of his teens from church. So its 100% home cooked cakes!

1. Durian cake @ RM10.90

Durian lovers will love this! As i write this now, the durian taste is still on my tongue. Very strong durian taste. Abit pricey, but i guess its the durian.

2. Choc Cheese Brownie @RM6.90

Hmmmmmmm, its quite ordinary. Couldn’t really taste the cheese. The brownie taste is still there though.

3. Chocolate cake @ RM4.50

This also was quite ordinary. Not very chocolaty but brownieee. lol

Just to prove i’m not biased, i tried finding fault with what i could find, so the only thing that was wrong was the Herbal tea, quite tasteless and also the service was abit slow cause of new staff.

Overall, this is a MUST VISIT place. Perfect place to RE:LEX and hang out if you are a teen!

They are also gonna have a concert on the 28th of August, good time to check the place out and at the same time have some fun!

Fyi, this restaurant isn’t in Bali, Indonesia.

It is located at the Food Heaven, Bandar Puteri Puchong.

If you think it is too far from your residence, you may proceed to their sister restaurant, Waterlily, located in the same building as Binary College. They sell the same thing.

So what is famous in this restaurant?

Besides their signature authentic Indonesian cuisine, they are also famous for their grilled sea foods.

Thats my purpose of visiting this time.

Tried their Grilled Dory Fish.

Content : Grilled Dory fish, fried fries, Special mushroom sauce, A bowl of salad, and a slice of watermelon(hidden behind the salad).

What a balanced diet! All 7 classes of nutrients included.

Grilled dory= Grilled to perfection. Notice the large portion. :) I <3 Fish.

Fries= As usual

Special Mushroom Sauce= Very special. Perfect when combined with the grilled fish.

Bowl of salad= Nice variety of simple vegetables. Good seasoning. Awesomeness

Slice of watermelon= Refreshing. Cooling. Juicy! :)

Conclusion: Grilled dory + Fries + SMS + Salad + Watermelon=

8 Nuggets. :)

Price= RM 23

Kind of expensive, a half burnt note. The price can be lower.

Alternatively, if you don’t like it being grilled. You may try the fried one!

Everything is same just that no SMS(Special Mushroom Sauce) is given. Instead, the (STS) Special Tartar Sauce) is provided. Plus, the salad is a smaller portion.

Bak Kut Teh

Bak Kut Teh is one of my most favourite dishes of all time!

Place to go to for it is KLANG!

People say that this soup based dish originated from chinese migrant workers working at the port and construction sites, so they needed a high calorie diet. Bak Kut Teh is the perfect dish because it is healthy chinese herbs mixed with high fat food. Haha

Puchong is like a 45 minute drive to Klang, but I found a place in Bandar Puteri that is from Klang!

The shop is called Yip Weng Klang Bak Kut Teh

The owner says that he is from the Pasang area, hokkien guy, proves he is a Klang-nite. Is his food as good as his origin?

The restaurant is very clean and quite ordinary, perfect place for bak kut teh!

Lets check out the menu first.

It comes all in a set. 2 choices of bak kut teh (dry or soupy) , 1 mushroom , rice and tea.

Quite reasonable.

Here is what the actual bak kut teh looks like:

The soup really taste good, strong taste and lots of "liu" ( generous portions ). The dry one is cooked very nicely and it is not burnt at all. Very well done.

Btw, I want to introduce something new for those who don't know about this. It is something that the boss recommended to me and I never seen this in any other bak kut teh place.

This part of the pig is called the "sai kuat" or the "drumstick"

Why is it so special??

Well the meat surrounding it is very lean and tender. It is sort of like chicken drumstick meat taste better than breast meat and comes off the bone easier because it is leaner.

Try it, and you gotta be early cause it goes quite fast.

That is after devouring it.

Conclusion

The taste of this bak kut teh restaurant is so far one of the best I have tasted in the area. And for the price you also get a very generous portion of food. Totally worth your while.

This time, we fly to Win Soon Cafe!

What the hell are sold there?!

This restaurant specialises in noodles, especially the Fish Head Noodles. However, you may choose anything available according to the menu to suit your taste bud.

I don’t quite like eating fish head noodles lately because I hate the ennie meenie miny tiny bones. Therefore, being smart and wise, I opted for the Sotong Ball and Fish Paste Meehoon! With the thumbs up beside it! ( It is the one on the LHS of the menu in the pic above)

The best food is in the quiet areas

Today, we bring you a review not of the large franchised food chains but now of the smaller less known places. The question is, does less known mean that the food is any less in quality or could it be better? Lets find out!

This review that I am about to write is a Chinese family restaurant where you have the "tai chous" cooking a variety of dishes you can order.

This place is called the "Puchong Seafood Restaurant which is located near Tesco Puchong. More precisely, No 16G, Jalan Bandar Lapan, Pusat Bandar Puchong.

Even though I have been living in Puchong for quite a long time with my family, we realized there was a restaurant here because it was just so remote. But this is good because there is ample car park and also a nice relaxing environment.

Lets start with the restaurant itself:

Well it is very plain restaurant so you are not paying for any nice decor or furnishings.

Service is very fast and efficient. They have never failed to disappoint me when it comes to service as well.

Moment of truth: The food

1. Butter Sotong

Quite a big portion of the price we paid.

The fried butter really has a wonderful texture and also a very strong taste. Kudos to the chef!

The sotong is crispy and crunchy when you bite into it

2 "Tau Fu Kang"

Now you cannot find this in many chinese restaurants. Not a very common dish

What is it?

If you feel bad eating sharks fin soup, this is the perfect replacement!

Made with crab meat, taufu, mushrooms and a thick broth

When it is served hot out of the kitchen, you can smell it as it reaches your table.

Well how creative can you actually get with vegetables?

4. "Stewed Malay Chicken"

This was a new dish that the "Si Tau" recommended us, so we thought we would give it a try.

Turns out he was right to recommend this to us.

I don't really fancy stewed chicken but I must say that this dish made me wanna have more.

5. Ku Loh Yuk

Last dish of the night

I am an avid fan of ku loh yuk ever since i was younger. I just have some fond attraction towards tomato sauce and sweet and sour.

Really really love the sauce as it really has that rich sweet and sour taste and even children will love this dish.

So for all those 5 dishes and our rice and stuff, here is the bill:

Quite reasonable if you ask me, usually 5 dishes else where will cost around Rm80

I managed to visit this restaurant a second time!

Lets see how consistant the food is

We talked to the boss and he told us that "everything he recommends is definately nice and reasonably priced"

I guess he has proven us right so far.

1. Chao fan (Fried rice) *The picture shows the portions for 2 people*

A friend of my mum's who just happened to be there said that he visits the place almost regularly to have their chao fan. Looks like it really is a hit.

It has "siu yuk" , onions , abit of small cili padi and some kangkung.

This dish is really no mistake, it smelt great when it first arrived at our table.

2. Ham Tan Har Kou ( Salted Egg Prawn Bites )

Now this dish is also not a common dish and it really requires skill to make.

I have tasted some restaurants that serve this and it really tastes like crap.

But the chef really has perfected his magic! It has a crispy outer texture and a wonderful aroma as you bite into it.

The prawns are small bite size pieces that make it easy to chuck into your mouth and enjoy

It really makes the taufu taste much better. Usually steamed taufu or steamed egg would taste just crappy but itself but by combining it together, you get a richer taste. Plus it is topped off with minced meat which I a carnivore need to have to make my food taste better. It is also coated with a thin layer of soy sauce.

5. Steamed "Pak So Gong" fish/ Tilapia

My mum commented that I rarely eat her fish at home when she cooks it.

However when this fish came, my tastebuds started telling me, COME ON LETS GET AT IT!

The boss told us that the fish he sells has quality meat and he will never lie to us. Well he totally nailed it!

The meat was very "Sut"(in cantonese) or very succulent. It was a very very good fish. Huge one too.

And there was no "muddy fish" smell. Perfect fish to fill my belly.

Notice that it is abit more expensive than the first time but fish usually expensive, so i would say that with the fish it is reasonably priced.

Its been awhile since the first ever post was written to signal the start of the future of food blogging. This project was actually just a product of two students in love with food and wanting to share that love with other people and provide the best recommendations of places for an average joe to eat at.

We are really glad that we have been getting such a good response. Honestly , we never really thought that we would reach 800 hits in just 2 months, with visitors from 3 unique countries ( wow! i only thought this was local! ) and all this is just due to you, our readers!

Now its time to pull back the curtains and finally unveil the ultimate Nugget Scale!

So as you can see, this is how we are gonna rate our food from now on!

This is from a scale of 1 to 10 , 1 being the worse most gross and disgusting food ever on the face of the planet ( which we hope never to find ) to 10 ( being God-like and superior which we don't think we will ever find )

Next moving on to our "Burnt Money Meter"

This is how we are going to rate in terms of price and affordability

Starting from the "Money intact" which means that the food is wonderfully priced and any average joe will love this place.

The "Half Burnt", meaning that it is slightly expensive so watch how much you order.

The "Ash pile" meaning it is a total rip off and not worth paying for.

Well, this post is specially for those who live around Bandar Kinrara, Puchong or to those students who hang around Giant (Bandar Kinrara) after school, and have no idea what to eat!

This review is about one of the stalls in the food court (Anjung Selera) of Giant, Bandar Kinrara. There will be more review on the other stalls, therefore this post is labelled as Guide (1).

The first lucky stall that I’ll review on is the :

THE SIZZLING Stall.

Obviously the food they sell are sizzling hot!

I personally love Yee Mee very much, thats why I chose it instead of Mee.

The chicken meat is very tender plus the time taken for the food to be ready is pretty fast.

The whole thing is perfect, just that I find the sauce abit too salty, too much oyster sauce I supposed.

Overall I’ll rate it 6.5 Nuggets and it wont burn a hole in your pocket.

It cost RM 4.90 w/o the egg and RM 5.5O with the egg.

So if you happen to shop or go to Giant Bandar Kinrara, don't hesitate to stop by at their Food Court to try this out!

Who says food courts doesn't have good food! :D

Look at all those ~~Brunei-ians~~ queuing to buy the noodles!

It is definitely worth giving a try!

Typical Chinese Family Restaurant

The other night, after tuition , I was out with my parents for dinner and as usual we were scratching our heads on what to eat. At 10.30, there are not many shops that we fancy to eat at. Usually we would head on down to the local food court which is the 1Puchong Cafe, or mamak ( which my parents loathe ). At the time too, we are not in the mood to eat such a heavy meal, just some food to keep us satisfied for the night. So we settled on eating noodles

We chose to visit one of our favourite Chinese family restaurants in the area. It is called “Road 8 Restaurant”. This restaurant has been around for a very very long time and its business has been very very good for all these years. Every night, this small shop will be packed with people. Its no wonder, as the food is fabulous.

What do they serve?

Well their menu is like any ordinary Chinese restaurant. Sweet and sour pork, steam fish, vegetables, taufu, lemon chicken, and also crab and prawns. Honestly, there is quite alot of variety to choose from and the taste is superb for each one.

One thing that is not on the menu is their noodle selection. For the night, 3 of us had 2 types of noodles.

The first one is :

“Kong Fu Chao Yin Yong” Cantonese style fried noodles

I was very impressed as this dish was the first dish to arrive at our table and it arrived in a record breaking time of around 5 to 10 minutes. I have never experienced this lightning fast service before.

It arrived hot and steaming. You can just smell the aroma as it is placed on the table.

This mee uses the “char kuay teow” mee and also mee hoon mee. It is served with a rich soupy texture we call “chup”. The “chup” is very flavourful and has just the right amount of water. It is neither too watery or too pekat.

In the picture, the portion is for 2 people, but you can see that it is actually much more than that. Very very generous portions and also lotsa squid, veges, meat and prawns.

Nugget rating = 8.0 nuggets

Price = You get what you paid for!

The second noodles that was recommended to us was the:

“Yan Tou Mee” which means “Indian style mee”

Honestly, it is just like the mamak mi goreng. However, I thought the standard of these yellow people who fried it will definitely not be able to match the skillfullness of the mamak people, I was totally totally shocked to find that I was wrong. This totally tasted better than any mamak mee I have ever tasted before.

It was cooked with chili, prawns, meat, onions and vegetables. Usually the mamak people will not give you that portions at a mamak shop. I would say the mee was not too oily, it was just right. It is slightly spicy like the normal mamak mi goreng. The meat and prawns just give it a very nice texture to munch on as well. The mee also has a very nice texture.

When it came, it was hot and also huge. It came out of the kitchen just like 5 mins after the first dish. Kudos to the team for speed.

Nugget rating = 8 nuggets

Price = Again you get what you paid for

This is a totally MUST VISIT place for those who live in Puchong. The prices of food here is really affordable when you see the portions that you get. Plus, the food is just nice overall! It is located at Jalan Kenari 8. On the highway, as you pass the flyover to sunway, take the first turning to your left. Go straight and you can see the signboard on your right.

Taiwanese

I’ve been eyeing to visit Taiwan one day in the future, because I’ve been craving to try their Taiwan sausage over there besides visiting the spectacular Taipei 101. I wonder whether the sausages there are the same as those sold here.

To ease my craving, I had to just find a Taiwan restaurant here to satisfy myself, and my budget. :D

And I landed here:

Those who don’t understand the Chinese characters, the set is inclusive of a glass of free Chinese tea, hot or cold.

I love the sausages very much! Sweet and nice~! The stir fried cabbage was awesome too!

Even though it is in the value meal section, I find it quite expansive. It can be cheaper.

But overall it wont burn a hole in your pocket.

Set 2: My favourite too! Hot and spicy Yee Mee soup!

Ohh My Gosh!! Despite the spiciness! I still love it very very much! :D

If you cant stand the spiciness, you may opt for the mild spicy one.

Tears dropped after I ate that! :) But I’m loving it! Everyone should try this!

Even though it is spicy, the special taste you experience after that is indescribable!

MUST TRY! Caution: Get ready some tissues before you go for it.

7.5 Nuggets for this! Shredded carrots and an egg with some meatballs!

Will not burn a hole in your pocket too!

So If you happen to visit this restaurant, remember to try out what I suggested~!

Smashed Foooood!

I was out with my family the other day to IOI mall and it just so happens that I realised Manhattan Fish Market is NO LONGER THERE! Well it is no surprise as there were few who actually visited that place. Actually I quite liked their fish and chips that comes with a drink and asparagus soup, but for some reason seafood might not have been able to bring in the catch for the season. So now it has been replaced with something from dry land, which is CHICKEN! The universal, most accepted form of meat there is!

The new shop that has replaced Manhattan Fish Market is a new up and coming Indonesian Javanese restaurant called Ayam Penyet AP (Literally Smashed Chicken of Ap). Ayam Penyet is a very famous dish from Indonesia that actually involves the food getting smashed. I first tried this when I was in Singapore, eating at a food court. What happens is that the chicken is firstly fried, then grinded bits of peanuts are scattered on top of the chicken then it is smashed using a very unique hammer and served with rice. I have not really found out the significance of smashing the chicken.

This chain has quite a few outlets in different malls. It has been quite successful so far. So i myself wanted to go try it.

So lets start with how the restaurant looks like!

They didn't really do much to the place after taking it over from MFM but it still is very nice and cosy place to be. It even has free wifi for you to work! It has small rectangular wooden tables and ordinary wooden chairs.

Heres the full menu. Please take note of this, rice comes seperate. Meaning, a portion of Ayam Penyet at RM8 does not come with rice which is at RM1.50.

So now, onto the real food:

1st thing is Empal Penyet ( Smashed Beef ) @ RM 7.00

Whats on the plate? You have one small chunk of beef, fried tempe, fried taufu , raw lettuce, spinach, cucumber and also sambal. You can see the scattered peanuts that were smashed with the beef on top of it. Honestly , it didn't look smashed to me.

The beef was abit on the tough side . It did not feel very nice to chew and in fact some small chunks got stuck in between my teeth. Onto flavour, I think it was an average effort. It could taste alittle bit of beef, but I personally feel that it was not the best I have tasted.

Now the dish comes with something I have never tried before which is tempe. My mum tells me it is made of Soy. I tried some of it. It tasted bland but I think that is how it is supposed to taste althought i did not much fancy it. However, it is something healthy so healthy things never taste that good.

Nugget rating = 5.5 nuggets

Price = Burns a small hole.

Next, we had Ayam Pop @ RM 8.00

What is this ayam pop? According to the menu, Ayam pop is "chicken steamed in spices and fried with oil". So it is steamed first then fried. I was a bit confused about that cause when the dish came, I was actually expecting steamed chicken but it was fried. Defeats the whole point of healthy living anyways.

I want to give a thumbs up to the chicken. It was actually done fairly well. The skin is fried till it was perfectly golden brown without any spots browner than the other. The skins also is filled with alot of flavour and aroma. The meat falls of the bone easily and also has a very tender feeling to it.

It comes with a special type of "sambal + nuts" but it taste sort of like a sweet sauce more.

I do not think they actually "penyet" this chicken.

Nugget rating = 7 nuggets

Price = Also burns a slight hole in the pocket.

I think we should also move on to something important which is the sambal!

I totally love this sambal. As somebody who loves something really spicy, I give this one a thumbs up! It totally has enough "kick" to make someone go wild! It is not like the sambal we have on nasi lemak. This sambal has onions and a few other ingredients that are mixed together.

Nugget rating = 7.5 nuggets!

All in all, I think the name speaks for itself. The chickens are good, the rest are just average. On price wise, I would say that this is the price you would pay to eat at Macdonalds. As this is also a franchise, RM8 or RM9 for a meal is nothing uncommon. They have a set promotion that is coming RM9.90 for a choice of Ayam Penyet/Udang Penyet + rice + drink!

Worth to give it a try!

KOREAN BBQ!

As a modern and contemporary food blog, we present to you reviews on all different variety of food from all across the world. This time, I’m going to do a review on the Korean food I ate around my housing area.

I guess most of you are familiar with this sign board.

The restaurant’s name as above is DAOREA KOREAN BBQ.

The reason I mentioned earlier that you guys should be familiar with this restaurant is because it has a wide range of branch across Malaysia.

The branch I went to was the one in Bandar Puteri Puchong, Selangor.

This is the traditional way with a modern touch of how the Korean sit while enjoying their meal. I mentioned with a modern touch because originally there aint any hole below the table. You have to cross your legs while eating, but to aid those who cant bare the long period of time with their legs crossed, a hole is made to ease their problem! They can now enjoy Korean cuisine without any pain! :)

Normal tables are available too, no fears!

Menu: It is a Korean BBQ restaurant, so obviously their main dish in their menu is the BBQs with the choice of pork, beef or chicken.

KOREAN noodles are also available.

Compliment seaweed soup is served prior to the food serving.

This is the pork special I tried that is worth RM 35. As you can see, the portion is obviously small but the price is high. :)

While waiting for it to be cooked, a variety of side dishes are also available for you. Second helping to third helping are available for the soup and the side dishes.

Tada!! The end product of the so called special pork.

Well, the special pork is not really special I guess, it is just almost the same as the other one I chose. Just 1 thing that differentiate them, the special one is more tender and more aromatic as it is marinated.

I’ll give 7 Nuggets for this Special Pork BBQ and A Half Burnt Note. It will definitely burn a hole in your pocket! ( Sorry about the official scale, we’re working on it!)

Next!

Sam-kub-sal in Korean. :) We call it pork belly or Fa Yoke( In Cantonese).

The portion is definitely bigger and it only cost RM27 for this! This does not mean that it is not tender, it is just not as tender as the special one! I’ll pick this compared to the special one as it is more economical!

There you go!

Ready to be eaten!

The perfect way to eat it! Wrap it around a slice of lettuce/cabbage with a garlic and an onion slice. Oh! The fat of the pork melts in your mouth and the aroma of the onion and garlic with the pork, and the crunchy lettuce when you bite. MY saliva almost dripped out when I was typing this post.

8 Nuggets for this Sam-Kub-Sal. A slightly burnt note. :D

Today is a change of tastebuds for lunch. As i was left at home with my brother for the day because our parents were out, we were left with RM50 to spend it in anyway we want!

HMMMMMMM what to get with RM50??

Obviously, we spent it all on our lunch to turn our hungry bellies into satisfied organs. Since we did not have a car to go out and buy the food, we had to do delivery. So far the foods that do delivery are only fast food restaurants. I would love the day when "kai fan" or "nasi lemak" is able to be delivered to your doorstep but that would be far far away. One of the type of foods that have a big reputation of delivering food is PIZZA CHAINS. Dominoes, Pizza Hut and an up and coming Canadian Pizza are the giants in this market.

Let tell you my pizza story. When i was younger, i used to adore Pizza Hut cause they were the biggest pizza chain around and they had those nice restaurants where you can sit and have family meals together. Then i realized that Pizza Hut was evil cause Dominoes was offering Buy 1 free 1 with a membership card and also had bigger sizes and more tastier pizzas. When the recession hit, dominoes eventually did what everyone else did and shrunk their pizzas and ingredients. I hate when restaurants do that, and then i found Canadian Pizza who just happened to set up a new branch in Puchong. I have been loyal to them ever since.

The Canadian Pizza ( www.canadianpizza.com.my ) outlets are located at 10 places! Check them out! The one at Puchong is located at Pusat Bandar Puchong (opposite Tesco through the highway) on the turning into the housing estate. There is a big sign, you can't miss it. It goes on the Buy 1 Free 1 concept. Meaning you can buy any size and flavour your want , and you will get another 1 free. Cool eh?

Prices are also quite reasonable, 10 inch at 29.90, 12 inch at 36.90 and 14 inch at 42.90 . Remember you actually get another one of the same size free. You have a choice of 15 pizzas to choose from!

So now, lets check out what I got.

I ordered 2 extra large pizzas at RM45.90 (RM42.90 for 2 pizzas + RM3 delivery fees)

1st flavour is Meat Lover

The name really describes the pizza. It is MEAT all over!

Minced meat, topped with onions and not forgetting cheese! Fabulous combo.

The crust is pan crust, and it is not the pizza hut type of crust. It is much thinner like the real Italian type.

Once you start biting into this load of meat, you will simply want more and more. There is alot of beef taste when you bite it. The onions enhance the flavour even more by making the beef smell better. It is really a fabulous pizza

Nugget rating = 7 / 10

2nd flavour for my pizza is Canadian Supreme

Supreme? Hmmm , I would think based on the amount of ingredients they give you then it can be called Supreme. This pizza is like a rojak of alot of ingredients. It has beef peperoni (my favourite) , black olives (healthy) , mushrooms, capsicums and lotsa cheeeeeseeeeeeee.

This one doesn't taste as meaty as the first one. It is comparable to the Dominoes "Extravaganza" as it has pretty much the same ingredients.

This has a more cheese and mushroom taste compared to the meat lover which i think some people would fancy more than the carnivours .

Nugget rating = 7 / 10

There are many other side dishes on the menu as well. such as cheese garlic bread ( RM3.90 ) , Jumbo Chicken Wings (RM10.80) , tortilla wraps (RM9.80) and also alot more. 11 items on the side orders list all together. I'm sorry I did not have a change to order them today as I was abit short on cash. I have tried the tortilla wrap and cheese garlic bread before and I would say that I can get them anywhere else.

Final conclusion:

Canadian Pizza is totally the best pizza chain there is right now in terms of affordability and also taste. The buy 1 free 1 concept will be to your advantage especially for parties and company functions. There is plenty of variety. On terms of affordabilty, I would say that it burns a slight hole in your pocket but still thats the price you gotta pay for eating pizza yet comparing to other pizza chains, CP still wins!

This title of this review actually describes 2 elements of this restaurant I’m going to review on.

FULLhouse is the name of this restaurant.

Full house is also what you’ll expect while visiting this restaurant. Therefore, patience is vital for us in order to enjoy great food.

It is a unique and modern restaurant cafe where you can dine and also shop in the same time, same place.

That is also why they describe their restaurant as a lifestyle store and cafe!

If you’re impatient and want to avoid the shop being as the shop name stated, you may opt to go earlier.

The branch I went to was at Sunway Pyramid Selangor.

Another benefit of going early despite having place is you get the chance to try out their reasonable and awesome set lunch.

But if you get there after 12pm, when the set lunch are already on sale, you may have to wait for seats as everyone in going for set lunch/dinner nowadays as it is far more affordable and it is a good thing because we are amidst the economic crisis.

By the way, if you’re not sure whether you are in the right shop, the whole restaurant is white in colour. :D

Malaysians are quite smart huh? Come during promotion time only?

As a Malaysian, I placed my order for Set number 1 when my watch shown 12pm. XD While waiting, browsed around their shop and the stuffs they sell.

Set 1 consist of: A plate of pasta, a bowl soup, a cup of Iced lemon tea and also a tart at the price of RM16.90.

Nugget ratings for the pasta: 5 Nuggets

Quite reasonable huh? That explains the crowd.

The pasta was just normal but the best was the so called tarts or deserts.

Overall the price of the set is obviously very affordable. It will not burn a hole in your pocket!

Ikea Cafe!

Wow in just a few days we managed to get 180 views!

Hopefully the stuff we write about food makes your tastebuds go wild and help find you new and different types of food to eat. Tell your friends if we have helped! :D

So now the next stop on our NuggetScale train is the very nice furniture and home product centre, which is the Swedish Ikea mall. It is located in Mutiara Damansara, near 1Utama Shopping Complex. This is one of the best places to hang about and "lepak" as there are just so many shopping centres around and also lotsa shops. We have even the Cineleisure Cinema complex nearby which serves as a very fun place to go. There is The Curve, Ikano Power Centre (also owned by Ikea) and Tesco nearby. To get to Mutiara Damansara, just use the Lebuhraya Damansara Puchong and you will end up there somehow.

For some reason, the two reviews i have done so far have something to do with furniture malls. I don't know why furniture malls actually have nice food but i guess it is to prevent people from chewing on the furniture when they get hungry. Ikea has a cafeteria on the second floor which serves quite nice food. There is a shortcut to get there instead of going through all the showrooms that make your stomach just yearn for food more. As you go up the escalator to the 2nd floor, turn right and there is an opening leading to the cafe.

I just reached Ikea at lunch time and it was just the perfect time to hit the cafe. Stomach was really gonna get upset if I chose to make it starve awhile. So we went to the cafe, luckily there was place to sit cause usually it is very crowded at lunch especially on weekends and holidays. They added a few brand new dishes to their menu today. First was the "Ginger glazed fillet of salmon with warm potato salad" that comes with a free bottle of mineral water. Next was the deep fried chicken slices with fries which looked quite good too. Mushroom soup which is also my favourite was also added to the menu.

Here are some of the items on the menu:

Ikea also offers a selection of pastry and also free coffee, tea and soft drinks!

Now, moving on to the food. My family of 4 ordered quite alot of food so i got to sample i think half of the menu.

So first on the list:

1. Whole Chicken leg in lemon herb sauce.

I haven't tried this anywhere else before as it is a swedish dish so I don't really know what is the real taste. The dish comes with a generous serving of carrots and 1 whole skinless potato. One plate of this cost 9.90, quite reasonable I think cause of the big portion.

On the side of taste, the sauce has a herb taste and for some reason today it tasted a little bit carrot-y today so I was abit dissapointed with it. The chicken leg is quite a big serving and enough to make a person full. The chicken was just normal and tender but nothing great to shout about.

I would give this a 5 nugget rating.

Price: Slightly burned pocket.

2. Mushroom soup

This is my most favourite soup in the whole wide world and I was just looking forward to trying this today. My stomach was bursting with anticipation to try it. It only cost RM3 which is quite cheap as any other regular place you go to. TGI Fridays sells theirs at RM12.

It looked quite good and I gave it a shot. I think they blended the mushrooms into small bits. The texture was quite good but I prefer it alittle bit thicker and creamier.

When it entered my mouth, i was dissapointed. It did not have enough flavour like what I expected. Maybe because it was abit cold. However I still felt that the broth was not that fabulous.

Nugget rating : 4 nuggets

Price : Fireproof!

3. Chicken Wings

I am an avid chicken wing lover. Totally love those stone grilled chicken wings that you can find in the food courts. It is totally worth getting your hands dirty.

As a Swedish restaurant , you might doubt their ability to do chicken wings, but i really want to give them praise for this chicken wings. I got the batch that came out fresh off the grill, so it was still hot and tasty. It was cooked just right and tasted fabulous. It is sort of like pandan chicken. It is abit oily but thats how they are. Lots of aroma too and very tender.

It cost RM3.80 for 2 and RM9 for 5

Nugget rating : 8 nuggets!

Price : Reasonable

4. Meatballs

I think this is the only item on the menu that has lasted the days!

It has been on there since the beginning of time.

And i believe there is a very good reason for that.

The price is RM5 for 5 balls, RM10 for 10 balls and RM14 for 15 balls, so it is RM1 for 1 ball and if you buy 14 you actually get 1 free.

It comes with a generous portion of swedish meatball gravy and also lingonberry sauce which is rarely seen in Malaysia and also a big bunch of fries.

The meatball is beef, and it tastes like real beef. It is very well cooked and not hard to chew. The sauce is thick and has a very rich taste. It complements the meatball very well. For those who love jams, Lingonberry is a must try as well as it goes very well with the meat ball.

5. Salmon

I wasn't able to try much of the salmon, however i got to sample a small portion. This is a new product on the menu which actually replaced another salmon dish. The picture looks very different from the serving honestly. I wonder why, but lets just see whats it all about.

Well the sauce is the same sauce from the chicken leg dish that I reviewed. The salmon is very well cook and does not break into very tiny pieces when cut. The small piece I sampled tasted rather good.

It is going at 15.90 a plate

All in all, ikea is not only good for its nice furniture and housing products but also a great place to experience swedish cuisine that you cannot find anywhere else in Malaysia. It is totally worth visiting sometime.

Everyone in Singapore should know it, simply famous!

It is pretty much different from the Laksa here in Malaysia.

With some BELACAN at your own degree of spiciness you can withstand!

The speciality of this noodle is the awesome aroma and taste of the soup, thats why they only prep you with only a soupspoon for you to finish the whole bowl of noodles. I know you’re wondering how to scoop the noodles just with the spoon.

Actually, the noodles are shorten and you can just scoop it with the soupspoon and enjoy the noodles with ease.

From small, medium to large and even extra large to choose from.

The whole bowl of noodles is indeed superb.

Overall I would give this a 7 nugget rating (we will be having the official scale soon) out of 10. On terms of affordability i guess it won't burn a hole in your pocket and yet still make you very full and satisfied.

It definitely worth my air ticket all the way to Singapore for Food Hunting!

Lets start it simple!

As this is the first ever review for TheNuggetScale *clap clap* , I was wondering what in the world should i actually post about. I recently returned from my holidays which took me to a many great great places to eat and enjoy. Firstly was in Hong Kong where I ate all sorts of exquisite and delicious food that I rarely get a chance to eat and took plenty of photos so that I can post reviews about them. Then i ended up in Singapore where I also got to eat very good food, namely fine dining type of restaurants which cost a bomb but taste great. That too I took alot of photos of, but in the end i am torn between what I want to choose as the first article for this food blog.

So as i was sitting and thinking about what to write, i decided maybe the first review shouldn't be about food that is unrelatable to many people because it is very expensive and only people of social status such as kings and queens get to eat. Secondly, i realized that the review should also be of something as down to earth as possible that we encounter day by day.

Based on all of that, I guess the first review that I am going to post about is about food in my beloved home country Malaysia. This food I am going to review about is found in something local that we call "Food Courts" which have many varieties of food.

The food court is called the "1 Puchong Cafe" which is located obviously in Puchong. Where is it exactly? It is opposite IoI Mall. There is Binary College nearby. From the bus stop, go straight until you reach the Binary College junction and turn left, go straight again until you reach another junction with traffic lights and turn left and you can see a huge building which has a big signboard saying "1 Puchong Cafe". It is a combination of a furniture mall and a food court.

Lots of variety here. You seriously can't get hungry. Some of the more popular stores are the Lanna Thai stall which sells very good pineapple fried rice, Thai BBQ, Bobby's Char Kuey Tiau, Noodles, Stir Fried, Batu 14 Yong Tau Foo and many other different types of food.

Time to get to the food and the pictures!

My dish for the night was from the 1Western stall which was Mixed Grill.

It has a wide menu and has many choices at quite reasonable prices.

I ordered a Mix Grill for the night which cost RM11. Quite reasonable considering the portions that they give you. Whats on the plate??

1. Okay portion of fries.

4. Grilled Chicken Chop

5. Grilled Lamb Chop

6. Egg sunny side up

7. Sausage

The fries so far is one of the best i have tasted for a food court standard. It isn't just potato fried in oil. It has abit more taste and aroma. Very well done. The sausage and the eggs, were well... just sausages and eggs. Moving onto the main thing, the grilled chicken chop. I have to say it was very well cooked. The chicken was cooked just right and tasted very good. As for the lamb chop, it tasted great but i felt it might have been alittle bit over cooked but overall still quite good. The sauce was a black pepper concoction but it tasted great.

So some other food that we ate that day.

Char Kuey Tiau and satay.

I won't be doing a review on them today but maybe in a seperate article later on.
